Fox Vet

Fox Veterinarian Serving Ohio

Pet foxes have specific needs that must be met to ensure they remain healthy. Our fox vet, Dr. Riggs, has over 30 years of experience treating foxes and exotic mammals. We provide full healthcare treatment for foxes. The fennec fox is the smallest species, and most commonly kept as a pet. We treat all breeds of foxes, including fennec foxes, red foxes and arctic foxes. In order to keep your pet healthy and happy, we provide the following fox veterinarian services:

Fox Wellness Exams

Wellness Exams are effective at detecting illness and disease early on to start a treatment plan before it progresses to an unmanageable level. The earlier a problem is detected, the greater the chances are of correcting it. We recommend wellness exams once a year to keep your fox in optimal health.

Fox Vaccinations

Your fox will require routine vaccinations. Some vaccines for dogs are also used in foxes, their canine relative. However, other vaccines for dogs can be harmful to foxes. We are well educated on fox vaccinations and will discuss the best vaccination plan with you based on several variables such as age, risk for exposure, and overall health.

Fox Parasite Prevention & Control

A monthly dose of parasite control medicine is the easiest way to protect your fox from internal and external parasites that can cause illness such as mites and intestinal parasites. Mites can trigger allergic reactions, skin inflammation, and infection. We offer effective parasite control treatments for foxes to keep the pests away.

Fox Spaying/Neutering

Having your fox spayed or neutered can help them live a longer, healthier life. It prevents undesirable behaviors such as urine marking, humping, and male aggression. Spaying females protects them against breast cancer and diseases of the reproductive system. Neutering males prevents testicular cancer and enlargement of the prostate gland, and reduces risk for perianal tumors.

Fox Nutritional Consultation

Foxes are omnivores and eat a variety of food in the wild. Domesticated foxes require a balanced diet to thrive. We can consult you on the best diet for your fox and items to stay away from.

Fox Dental Care

Like dogs, foxes are prone to dental disease. We provide all dental care for pet foxes and can diagnose any concerns you may have.

Fox Diagnostics, Therapy, Surgery

Our goal is to keep your fox healthy and prevent illness. If your pet is injured or ill, rest assured that we have the tools necessary to diagnose the problem and offer state-of-the-art treatment.
From blood testing and radiographs to ultrasound and endoscopy, we have the means to track down your pets’ problems. Once the problem is uncovered we have the expertise, equipment, and the years of experience needed to provide the therapy or surgical procedures required to help our patients.
